COL BROWN ROTARY PARK

Public BBQ

This compact town-centre park serves as an unexpected cultural hub, dominated by the impressive Big Kookaburra sculpture that has become the town's unofficial mascot. The park anchors Australia's largest collection of street murals - over 60 vibrant works that transform the surrounding streets into an outdoor gallery. While the location lacks shade and sits somewhat exposed at the intersection of three busy streets, it compensates with well-maintained facilities including clean public toilets that pleasantly exceed expectations. The park's war memorial provides fascinating historical context, and the adjacent tourist information centre makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the extensive mural trail. Though the barbecue facilities have seen better days and may disappoint those planning serious cooking, the park excels as a convenient rest stop. The nearby Kurri Hot Bread offers excellent pies for those seeking sustenance, while a charming coffee house in the old Commonwealth Bank building provides quality breakfast options.
